HUG is a friendly ukulele group based in Hadleigh, Suffolk. It was launched in November 2016 by Peter Finch who continues to organise its regular meetings and community performances with the essential (and musical) help of Annie and Michael Parish, and Alison Hodgkinson.
Our aim is to have fun, share the music and make people smile.
We meet twice a month on Tuesday evenings to play and sing, learn new techniques, share music and just enjoy the company of fellow ukulele (and guitar) players.
Ukulele beginners and experienced players are welcome to join us at our regular Tuesday meetings any time; all you need is a ukulele, music stand and copies of our Songsheet sets (see the Downloads page), plus there is is small fee on the night to cover the cost of room hire.
Some of our members are happy to give performances (usually in the daytime) for local community groups just for the fun of putting a smile on people's faces and to raise funds for our supported charity: BBC Children in Need. We don't charge a fee but if you would like to show your appreciation by making a voluntary donation, that would be most welcome, especially if yours is a commercial organisation. So if you are an organiser of something that you think would benefit from HUG's musical presence let us know and if we can we will oblige.
HUG is a Not for Profit organisation. Any surplus funds, left after paying room hire and other essential costs, are donated to our supported charity: BBC Children in Need. HUG's donation to Children in Need for 2023 was £757.
